This identity was created for a competition held by the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art in the museum's pursuit to find a new identity. The museum wanted to be identified as "The A." Because the museum owns no permanent collection, the museum is always in a constant state of flux, being redefined by the contents of the current show. I wanted to create an identity that had a similar feeling of interpretation, where the identity could not be positively identified. One that appeared to be an 'a' but also could be interpreted to be other forms. I feel this was achieved by only presenting an echo of the 'a' leaving the viewer to fill in the rest and come to his or her own interpretation.
